7 Principles of the Texas Constitution
Made by:

Checks and Balances
The process in which one branch of government "checks", or keeps in balance, in a way to maintain balance in power between the branches. In the government sense, the Texas Constitution got the idea of checks and balances from the U.S. constitution.
Federalism
Federalism is when, in the sense of the U.S and its states, the state's government is in sync with their main government. To better explain it, let's say one country has its states. To maintain a Federalist country, the country's main government has a sense of the government it wants, but the states in that country want their own. The country has to tell its states to switch their government so it aligns with the country's main government.
Separation of Powers
This article calls for the power of the government to be split into three branches, the Judicial, Executive, and the Legislative. It simply keeps the power in check so it isn't a tyranny.
Popular Sovereignty
This, to put it simply, is that ultimate power and final
authority rest with the people. It is yet another way in which the power of the government is not spread unequal.
Limited Government
This is a method in which we (the people) don't allow a tyranny in the government, so to say. It helps make sure that the Government isn't going around making stupid laws. (Cities in Texas, we're looking at you)
Individual Rights
This simply ensures that your human rights are met and are never taken away by the government.
Republicanism
This is a way to help have the people's voices heard by the government. Rather than run the government by themselves, the people elect others into office, as a way to be heard in the government.

ReplyDeleteHow does the separation of powers keep the government from becoming a tyrannical???
ReplyDeleteWhat if both chambers and the presidency was run by the same political party could the government change from a democracy to a dictatorship.
Your post was very informational and had lots of information. The length of your paragraph could be longer. What are some of the rights of the citizens also what is the thing called that these rights are placed in the constitution? ( Madalyn)

Republicanism has always fascinated me. We are people who vote for others to vote for us. How do you think this effects the honesty of our voting process?
ReplyDeleteGreat WORK!

Great job guys! Its well written and you get your point across very well. There is only a few things I would suggest for example, where it states the individual rights you should give maybe examples of rights everyone has and what would happen if we did not have them. I would also suggest maybe threw out the blog to add some pictures and examples. All in all great job keep up the good work ^.^ (Victoria Perrin)
ReplyDeleteThe information was straight to the point, but more detail explaining would have helped. Also, getting pictures or another way to get the person to understand what you mean. Most people wont understand unless you give them a way to connect to what you are saying. Why would a limited government affect the principle of popular sovereignty?-(Gabi, Brent, Damon, Ben)
ReplyDeleteGreat~ Is texas better with federalism or withouth?

I like how you have lots of interesting facts. I am answering "What are some human rights that should be met by the government?" some human rights that should be met by the government are the right to search only with a warrant, the freedom of press, also the freedom of speech. How would we have people in office if the people can not elect others that are qualified? Also would everyone want to be in office and do you think this would cause conflict? ( Madalyn )
ReplyDeleteGreat Job!What do you think would happen if popular sovereignity (Karla)
ReplyDeletetexas is better with fedralism because of the laws
ReplyDeletehow does checks and balances balance power
